Firewalls may be implemented as a single device-type (think UTM), or as multiple purpose-built devices (think proxies, content-filters and IDS) that logically provide a related, aggregated set of functions. Which ever the case, firewalls provide a unique opportunity to provide increased visibility of network and service activities.
DotSec is able to securely collect, aggregate and analyse security events from firewalls (as well as from servers, desktops, networks, applications and appliances) and thereby deliver anomaly, intrusion-detection and reporting services that allow an organisation to understand what is happening in their computing environment.
DotSec has implemented and maintained single, stand-alone and redundant firewalls, based on hardware “appliances” and software ISOs, and supporting a range of functionality including access control, traffic management and QOS, remote access and site-to-site VPNs, reporting, IDS and content-filtering. DotSec is vendor neutral, so we can help design, implement and if necessary maintain a firewall solution that will suit your business requirements.
Oh, and just as an aside and while we’re at it, MPLS, VPLS and VPRN are not intrinsically secure, especially where the “P” bit of all those acronyms (Privacy) relies on the carrier/ISP. Unless your business is willing to trust the carrier/ISP to never employ an administrator who is capable of making a configuration or routing error, then your business should still take steps (such as implementing firewalls, VPNs and secure remote access) to ensure that the security of its networks is maintained according to policy.
